Voleo #FeatureSpotlight shows you how to maximize your Investment Club performance by leveraging Voleo’s specialized features.

Viewing Portfolio Mix by Sector

Today’s #FeatureSpotlight shows you how you can view your portfolio mix by Stock Market Sectors.

A sector refers to a group of stocks representing companies in a similar line of business. The Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS) set out by Standard & Poor’s and Morgan Stanley Capital International classify stocks into 10 sectors.

Why is it important?

Sectors are relevant to stock selection as different sectors behave differently depending on the current state of the local and global economy. Other macroeconomic events can also have an affect on a sector, such as the price of oil.

Understanding your portfolio’s sector mix allows you to better understand your exposure based on economic and macroeconomic events and trends. Some sectors historically perform better at different times during the business cycle. Sector diversification is one investment strategy that is used in order to reduce sector specific risk.

How to access the feature:

  1. From the Home Screen, tap on your investment club

  2. On the portfolio tab, select “Sector”

  3. A circle graph will populate providing you with your sector mix, represented as a percentage of your total holdings
